When we were planning for our first birth, it was obviously intimidating having not gone through that before as a couple. Of course, my wife was doing the heavy lifting, but as the husband (and father) I wanted to be there as a support. What I discovered pretty quickly was the incredible assistance a doula offers, not only to the expectant mother, but to the father as well. Dara was AMAZING. After hours of labor, we decided to call her in ,and when she showed up, so much relief came over both my wife and me.  Since that day we have had 2 more children and Dara was at each of those births as well. Dads…hire Dara! You will be SO happy you did!!

Writing a testimonial for Dara is an absolute joy! I don’t know how to adequately express the impact she has made on our family!

I hired Dara as a doula for my third birth. I was new to the area, giving birth in a hospital setting, and I thought the extra support could be helpful being so far from family…Well, it was the best decision I could have made! Her wisdom and coaching have transformed me as a mother and my birth experiences have been so much more enjoyable and peaceful. Dara is my secret weapon!!! She has supported us for 4 of our 6 children’s births and our family is immensely grateful for her wisdom, nurturing care, and peaceful presence!

Michael and Melody Maher

Dara has been with me for all four of my natural births—two at home and two in the hospital, and I wouldn’t have wanted to give birth without her! She carries such a calm, kind, and nurturing presence that brings peace to the whole experience.
She is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, and her gentle encouragement and practical tips made all the difference. I always felt completely supported and cared for.
Each of my births was unique, but one thing that never changed was Dara’s presence—fully there for me, my husband, and our babies. She’s more than a doula; she’s a steady, loving guide through one of the most sacred experiences of life.
I’m forever grateful for her and the beautiful care she provides through Heart and Hands Birth.

It was truly a blessing to see birth done this way- at home. While I was on the fence, because everything seemed so foreign to me, I can certainly say that it was a joy and blessing for my wife to give birth at home with Doulas and Midwives! The support that Melissa and Dara provided- each step of the way, especially during labor, gave me- as a husband - sincere comfort, because I knew my wife had her team there helping me support her. She gave birth to our incredible son, and the sweet moments they captured on video and in photographs will be treasured by my wife and me for many years. Thanks be to God and thank you, Heart and Hands Birth!
